Parking Boo Boos

Parking Boo Boos

Hi! If you're new here, please find time to view my Gallery. You may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting! :)

Since I started driving last May, I already have 2 (actually 3 :p right Rico?) boo boos at our basement parking in the office. I gotta admit that I’m bad at reverse parking at enclosed parking spaces like the one at our office, but then when it comes to parallel parking, I’m really good at it. Weird eh? It may because I’m required to parallel park in our small townhouse village in Quezon City everyday, so I’m pretty conditioned when it comes to that parking style. Wanna read about my parking boo boos? Here they are:

My first boo boo was when I was asked to move my car from the parking slot that was supposed to be for Chinabank. There’s this big pillar at the middle part of our parking area where one has to turn in order to avoid it. I was actually slowly reversing my car while the guard was talking to me that I’m not allowed to park on the slot nextime. I wasn’t paying attention that I’m already hearing a crack on the left side of my red Yaris. So that’s my first damage to the car and my first parking accident.

The second one was when I was trying to reverse the car to get out of my slot. Frustrating enough, I really cannot move the car because of another car in the perimeter. Rico was directing me how to get out but then I gave up because it’s impossible to get out of the slot with another car parked near my car. So he offered his services to maneuver my car instead. I got out of the car but then I forgot to pull the handbrake! :p My car’s rear kissed with that other car. Good thing there was no damage to that other car (Yeah, i know right :p ).

My third and latest parking accident had the most damage to my car. It was when I was very early at work that almost all slots in the parking area are vacant. So I decided to do some reverse parking…bad idea. I wasn’t really on my right mind that time, I wasn’t able to turn my wheel back to it’s proper form in order to avoid the sharp wall on my left side. My car’s front (much on the left side), crash with the sharp corner of another pillar in the parking area. I though I lost my headlights since I heard more than just a crack. The most embarassing part was someone from the admin of our company saw me as I made that boo boo. :p hahaha

So far, I’m more cautious on the way I park in the building and enclosed parking areas. I really need more training at reverse parking- even with only a small car. ;) For now, I’ll just have an idea on how to park with playing games like these online:

Hahaha :D Hi Ronan! :D

Reverse parking is really easy when you get the hang of it. :) Practice lang, and ingat :D

Yeah I really need a lot of practice! :P 3 accidents already :P I should not add more!

did you enroll at a driving academy? i was taught a simple maneuver to do that. quite effective even for newbies i didn’t have a hard time repeating it

it’s something like this, position your car about 1 meter from your slot with the side mirror in line with your slot’s demarcation.

make 180 degrees turn of your wheel, left turn if your slot is on your right (reverse when necessary) then drive forward until you see your car’s rear bumper steer clear of the slot.

then make a complete turn of your steering in the reverse direction, on reverse gear. until you see your car is straight where you need to make one whole turn of your steering wheel to straighten the wheels.

it’s easy, takes practice. but your case is odd since it’s always parallel parking that’s hard to do for newbies

yep I enrolled in one. I really have this difficulty when I park at enclosed parking areas (especially beside a wall). :P

Yeah, I’m really into parallel parking because I’m requiredto park that way at our house. hehe…weird, i’m better on it than reverse parking.

I know a friend who’s like you. She hates not only reverse parking but also parallel parking. Haha. So far, she has not had any accidents yet but this is the province so there are not much cars. :)

More practice and you’ll likely get the hang of it.

peachys last blog post..And That Was A Strike

Hi peachy! Haha, maybe your friend basically just hates parking! Hahaha…Well, good for her she had no parking accidents yet. :P
