Ditch and Switch

Hi! If you're new here, please find time to view my Gallery. You may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting! :)

I still remember the day I had my first DLSR of mine. It was April 17, 2008 when I bought a Nikon D60 from Hidalgo St. in Quiapo from being addicted from Lomo. Ever since I had that, I slowly drifted away from shooting film and buying 120 and 135 slide films until about some months ago I held on my lomo cameras again. :P

My D60 is 6 months old as of October 17 , but come to think of it I barely used it within those months. Lots of reasons really, but it was worthwhile with every use.  It was a perfect fit to my hand when I held it the first time. I still remember the time in my basic photography class with sir Jo Avila that I just constantly giggled about Nikon Cameras having those Nintendo-like button controls and low ISO performance at low light. Well, he was right…LOL. :P I just shrugged off those cons he mentioned months ago from ditching my Nikon because I usually shoot things at daylight and I just really loved the colors that Nikkor lenses produce, which is something to switch back. ;)

The D60 will be missed. I can still admit it has nice features that are still worth the buy for any entry-level user. I still remember my first set of shots from it, and here they are:
Clouds Pendant Setting Sun Moon 4/18/2008 Eight Twenty
In the zone The Guitarist Cute Dog Guitarist Sings? Eastwood City Stage

My new camera just came. It’s a Canon EOS 1000D and  I made some test shots with it and I’m happy with how it performs with the 50mm f/1.8 lens. I love the noise handling this camera has (See my ISO 1600 test shots below). :P Hehehe…I’ll be sticking to Canon for a long time this time around. I could’ve bought a high end camera just to end all the ranting about the features but I do feel that what’s more important is to buy something that suits my needs then I can just buy more lenses. I’m not a professional photographer anyway. So far I’m on the 18-55 mm IS kit lens and the 50mm f/1.8.

Time to shoot more with an AF-capable camera and nice ISO performance…LOL. :P
