Infrared Photography at the American War Memorial

I revisited the American War Memorial in Taguig City after almost a year of shooting there last year. This time with no option of shooting with my broken DSLR at Canon, I did shoot AWM with my recently acquired converted Canon 350D infrared camera.

It was a quiet afternoon and I was the only one one who occupied the place for a matter of time, as the caretakers were busy mowing the lawn of AWM. It’s amazing how things are transformed in infrared photography. Something memorable is my picture here, where I was wearing dark shades. With IR vision, the shades look like plain eyeglasses..Cool eh? :p

I enjoyed doing false color infrared photography this time. It’s quite a challenge in post-processing and the workflow can be cumbersome at first. It took me some time before I finally concocted my own false color infrared treatment in Adobe Lightroom 2.0. Having a converted IR camera body is a blessing because you don’t have to roast yourself under the harsh sun doing long exposures with an infrared filter, but then at some point you will miss doing long exposures with the movement of the clouds. For that, you will need graduated/neutral density filters. I’ll try it nextime for another blog post. ;)

The American Memorial can be really a playground for those who want to do some Infrared Photography and practice their landscape shots. There’s just so much greenery, leading lines, patterns etc. I also didn’t need a permit to shoot in the place, so it was hassle-free. I suggest go there during 10am-3pm when the sunlight is good in the area. Shooting with subdued lighting can be hmm… a little frustrating.

Haha, and it’s also a good place for some quiet time! :P *emo*

Nothing really changed in AWM, it still is a very well-maintained place in Taguig, it still is a very peaceful site. Makes you concentrate more in shooting hehehe. ;)

@jaydj- Salamat  May guards sila sa place. Hindi ka nila sisitahin as long as kasi you don’t shoot in big groups naman. Kung may big group na shoot kayo sa AWM dapat may permit nga lang.
