Cebu Food: Golden Cowrie Restaurant

Golden Cowrie Native Restaurant at Lahug, Cebu City by Maki Eduardo

It was my first day in Cebu and the last day of my fellow PG correspondents. We ate at this famous native restaurant in Cebu, the Golden Cowrie. Me, Mica, Jehz, Ada, Winston, and Vahn (who recommended the place) had a very good time eating there.

The place may be small from the outside but it has a high ceiling from the inside.

There are plenty of tables there. They also have their in-house Lechong Cebu called Unbelibaboy.

Part of our order was Sinigang na Hipon (149PHP) to warm our stomachs. Hmm nothing really stunning about their sinigang but it was flavorful.

The Gambas with Egg (175PHP) was my favorite dish that lunch. When this is served, it is still sizzling as the egg cooks slowly. Even with egg, the Gambas still tastes great without losing the flavor.

We also had their Chicharong Bulaklak (80PHP). This was a sellout during our lunch as we had to order another platter of this. The taste reminded of me cruncy bacon…only way bigger hehehe.

A must try from the Golden Cowrie is their Baked Scallops (119PHP). I never realized the worth of a piece of scallop not until I was served with their lovely shells. Anyway, I love this dish, I would prefer having bigger scallops but this one tastes so good.

Moving on to high-calorie dishes that would give you a heart attack, we also had the restaurant’s Sisig. Two thumbs up on this! This was also served with raw egg as  the plate was still sizzling hot. The picture is when the egg was thoroughly mixed with the dish already.

Last but not the least, we had a humongous serving of Crispy Pata (reg 229PHP jumbo 295PHP) LOL. :P

Prices are reasonable enough. With all the dishes six of us ordered and shared, each head costs for about 300 pesos. ;)
