Cebu Tour: Taoist Temple at Beverly Hills Subdivision

One of the first places one can go to while in Cebu City is to visit the Taoist Temple at the top of Beverly Hills Subdivision. The temple was built during the 70s through the support of the Chinese Community of Cebu which consists of 15% of the City’s population.

Since the temple is located at the top of a hill, you can get a good view of the city from here. Well, most of the view I saw were strips of mountains. :D

For those who aspire to take pictures like a dslr with an infrared filter, cable release and tripod, I would just like to share that tripods are not allowed inside the temple. Still, most of us shutterbugs enjoyed capturing the place without a tripod.

Silence is also well-observed inside the temple. Also, no taking of jumpshots near the main area of the temple. My friend Mica tried to capture a jumpshot of me in the temple but we got apprehended by the guard with a warning. :P Oh well… I just went for a picture with the pagoda and the chinese dog. :P

What I really like about the architecture and design of the place is the pagoda-style of roofs and the great detail of paintings and etchings on the roofs and pillars.  The setting reminded me much of that Bruce Lee movie, The Game of Death. Hehehe 8-)

In took us 99 steps to finally reach the bottom part of the temple. Cool eh? :P And for some reason I wonder why it’s 99 steps…Hmmm
