Landmarks to visit while in Cebu City

Going to Cebu but ain’t familiar with major landmarks and places to go? For those who are interested to see what’s around Cebu City, I’ll give you some of the places I went and took pictures as a rundown of the landmarks I’ve been around during my 3-day Cebu escape. :D

Governor’s Office in Capitol

Capitol Cebu Office by Maki Eduardo

This place is like the White House of Cebu Cebu built by the Americans, which explains the parallelism to the White House’s structure. It’s a wonderful sight at night. The best time to shoot is just when it just gets dark. The place can be packed by several people and other street children on its quadrangle.

Magellan’s Cross

Sto.

This is just across the Sto. Niño Basillica and the Cebu City Hall. See my story on when I visited this place. ;)

Church-hopping

See the different Churches in Cebu and for sure, you’ll say wow at the architecture and the paintings on the ceiling that tells a lot about Cebu’s history.

Metropolitan Church

This is a big church with some Chinese influence to its architechture. It has a beautiful round garden just outside it. Very nice.

Sto. Niño Basillica  Church

This one has the beautiful paintings on the ceiling and more parts to visit like dozens and dozens of framed paintings on its hallways.

Crown Regency Hotel and Towers

One can go for a Buffet + Skywalk or Edgcoaster package here. It also has good hotel accomodation starting at $50.

Larsian Fuente

Puso Wrapped Rice in Cebu City by Maki Eduardo

Famous for roasted meals, one can really have a satisfying lunch for loss here. A tip I learned in visiting here is that you don’t really go inside Larsian Fuente and look among other BBQ establishments. You go to the one small white tent located outside. I really love their BBQ there and eating lots of Puso (wrapped rice).

Fort San Pedro

This is like the Fort Santiago of Cebu City.

Museums

If you want to know more about the history of Cebu and Philippine History itself, I recommend visiting the museums. Entrance fees are cheap and establishments are air-conditioned.  All of the Museums however only allow taking pictures on the main lobby.

Taoist Temple

A landmark that represents the Chinese Population of Cebu City. Here’s my story on my stay there. :D

For Pasalubong:

Carbon Market for dried goods etc.
Shamrock for sweet delicacies, and a dried mango factory.

So if you’re planning to go to Cebu (the City proper), just list some of the things I shared here on paper and give it to a hired cab driver. You can also make arrangement with some cab drivers to tour you around the city for 1200 PHP/day. I hope this helps! I’m coming back to Cebu for more tips and to pin more places. :P That’s my list for now…I have so many in mind to write about…hehe. This is just the City itself and the island of Mactan isn’t included. ;)
