Cebu City’s famous landmark, the Magellan’s Cross is located just footsteps away from the Sto. Nino Church in Cebu City. It’s also just across Cebu City Hall. I went there to take just some snaps of the cross.

People say that the cross inside the shrine is just a replica of the real Magellan’s cross back in 1521 and that the original one is encased inside that replica cross so that it can be protected from being vandalized or chipped away by tourists. It is the symbol of Christianity and Catholicism in the country and a reminder of the colonization of Spain.
I was a little disappointed when this kid with a red Jollibee balloon accidentally lost his balloon within the high ceiling of the Shrine. No one can reach the balloon so I was left with shooting the cross with an unwanted object.

I also got stranded for 30 minutes along with other tourists inside the shrine because I didn’t bring an umbrella and it was raining very hard. (bummer
)

I bought candles from the old women inside the Shrine. They danced the Sinulog for my offering of 5 different candles. I just warn other tourists in staying inside the shrine for song long…you’ll lose some money with all the women who would solicit for candles. Just being realistic here, even this old woman in the picture advised me not to give into more solicitors in the shrine because I already bought candles.

Same as the others, the old woman was also watching the kids who were playing under the rain…

I’ll really go back to the shrine and take a picture again. The red balloon along with high ISO noisy shots did just burst my bubble on taking a picture of the shrine.
Well, I hope you readers still appreciate my pictures while I got stranded inside the shrine and the picture of the Magellan’s cross (even with the red balloon).
