Chinatown Heritage Center, a harshly-sunny environment, wide window frames, bored bloggers, stools and the Gosengfiao sisters (the best cosplayers in the Philippines
)… It was a perfect time to do some portrait shots of our new friends. The worn out wall on the upper floor of the museum suddenly became like a mini studio for most of us while Ashley and Alodia were game on posing for us.

Alodia warming up

The lighting was pretty harsh but I like it was still fun to shoot. The only thing missing during that stolen time to shoot was a reflector or either an external flash to strobe to fill in light on some areas. Window light is love. Too bad we don’t have a window in our home like what was on that Chinatown Museum to practice at home. Practicing portraiture by the use of a window (with window panes to control the light) can be one of the most fulfilling part of starting to shoot and studying how light falls on the subject. I myself have to amend my lack of practice on this and I’m still working on it…because honestly..I still suck at portraiture! Hahahaha…

One final distorted snap of Ashley and Alodia
I’m greatly happy with the sharpness of the Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8 L II USM Lens. Other than being sharp, I can testify that the colors and the contrast of the picture are really different with a heavy duty L lens. I would gladly invest on such lens even for some quirks of distorting parts of the subject. Thank to Carlos for lending me the lens of Canon Singapore. Canon was our official sponsor in Singapore.
wooot! astig! parang mga statwa lang oh.
hehehe
I disagree Maki the lighting might have been harsh but the play of shadows and light I felt were beautiful. But the panes would have been an elegant touch so as to create different levels of light. Great shots as usual. The 16-35 2.8L looks really awesome in capable hands! Don’t worry I still suck at portraits as well!
The light was definitely amazing. Light coming from window is love. Hope I can have an apartment where both sunrise and sunset light goes through my place. It is perfect for portraiture and other.
The second pic of Alodia is great. However, you should have shot it including her boots or may just include the upper body.
The third pic I like it.
