Mickey Mouse Makes It More Expensive

It’s amazing how branding can really make one cheap item a premium one. I experienced it during my time at HongKong Disneyland when I had the craving for some chocolate ice cream stick.

A normal ice cream stick without the shape of Mickey Mouse was worth 10HKD.  The price was already expensive on its own, as Nestle Ice Cream sticks in the Philippines only cost for about 15-25PHP.

A shape of Mickey Mouse then adds 8HKD more to the price of an ice cream stick at Disneyland for a total of 18HKD. The added premium did also apply to other food items such as cookies, chocolates and other desserts during my stay there…
