An Idea of a Hefty Filipino Breakfast by Carnation

It was an unforgettable moment for me one morning during our Carnation Family Foodtrip 2009. It gave me a clear brief idea of what a good Filipino Breakfast was. Everything was healthy despite some much-filled load of carbs with every meal that one morning in Batangas.

I can just imagine waking up with either Hot Mango Mueslix or Champorado on the table with Suman on the side. I simply fell in love with the Mango Mueslix. It gave me the idea of adding fruits to the usual cooked whole round oats I consume. Sweet, tasty, fragrant and creamy with just the right amount of diced ripe mangos, my consumption of it brought nostalgia to my tastebuds. It was like tasting Jollibee’s Peach Mango Pie filling over and over.

As for the Champorado, it was a sellout for me during the whole foodtrip. They really make good Champorado in Batangas. I don’t know what cacao tablets they used to cook the meal but I can also just testify about the rice that they use for the Champorado they served. They were pretty small and sticky ones that were just perfect for the such recipe.

And yeah…what the heck, the Champorado also goes well with some toasted Tawilis on the side! :D

Who also wouldn’t want sweet wrapped sticky rice or Suman? It’s perfect for freshly-brewed coffee or even the special coffee of Batangas, the Kapeng Barako.

During that morning, I was able to witness coffee brewing and etching by the best baristas in the country. I could just wish to wake up every morning and drink a perfectly brewed coffee complete with etchings made out of love. :D

As for staple rice meals, I remember eating the best Tapa and Tocino from Carnation. I did wonder why Filipinos tend to have dishes colored red. Could it be just because of the curing salt added to the marination of both the Tapa and Tocino? Well, whatever the answer could be, I would still always want those dishes along with steamed or fried rice complete with a sunny side up fried egg. Nom! :P

Argh…I’m even getting hungry now as I write this post. :P I hope you readers liked it and gave you more of an idea of serving more Filipino Breakfast dishes other than just cereals and milk in the morning. ;)
